Morrison is the county seat of Whiteside county, Illinois and has a population of nearly 4600 that is steadily growing.  The City is located at the intersection of Illinois Route 78 and US Route 30, which is also known as the Lincoln Highway, the first transcontinental highway.  Its long, scenic stretches offer glimpses into America's past and a view of Morrison's history.  Local captains of commerce and industry left an architectural legacy in their homes along Lincolnway and Main Street (one block South of Lincoln Highway).  Here, in Morrison's prime commercial district one finds stately reminders of the town's  commercial heritage.

Illinois Interstate 88 is just 7 miles to the South while Interstate 80 is 40 miles away.  The Union Pacific Railroad line that runs through town handles regional freight hauling.

Whiteside County Airport, 14 miles to the East of Morrison, handles public air travel, while water transportation facilities on the Mississippi River are only 11 miles to the West of town.

Nearby communities include Sterling, Rock Falls, and Dixon (Illinois) to the East and Clinton, (Iowa) to the West.  Morrison is only one hour from the Quad Cities (Rock Island and Moline Illinois, Bettendorf and Davenport, Iowa.

Morrison is also one hour from Rockford, Illinois and a little over 2 hours from Chicago's famous downtown LOOP.

Morrison's small town atmosphere offers a shopping environment with history and the charm of the past.  Its tree lined streets and a growing number of quaint specialty shops make shopping one of the great pleasures in town.  Antiques stores offer opportunities to pick up the pieces of the past at a bargain and artisan shops offer quilts, baskets and other crafts.  Local retail and specialty businesses are located in the Main Street Historic district, while many home businesses in outlying areas do brisk yet friendly trade.
